It had been awhile I come here and write something. But I think this is worth to put down in writing as one of my new experience post.
I have heard this from someone "Opportunity Doesn't Knock Your Door Twice!". Have you heard it before and do you agreed to it?
Couple of weeks ago, I had to face something in my career that really need me to make a decision. After one semester teaching in ADP, I had my post observation review and I remembered that it was 17 April 08 @ my PD office. You want to know what are the review my PD and HOD gave me? :) Positive one and seriously I am not joking, I am good most of the areas in teaching. I thought in my back of my mind that sure I am going to get my confirmation based on such as good review.
At the same review meeting, my PD posted a question to me "Shirley, how your Master doing and at what status of the completion?". I replied to her that I didn't progress far as I am really tied with teaching preparation and classes. My PD has frankly told me that I would not get my confirmation until I have completed my Master. She mentioned that if she were to grant the confirmation, the Lembaga Accreditasi Negara (LAN) will come after them. I was totally upset about the decision and I was really speechless and do not know how to react. I take the whole thing back home, told my boyfriend about it and had called Leena and cried to her. I was very very confused, disturbed and upset over it.
Time has passed, the following week, students are having final week of lesson and exam were going to start. I had to be strong and do something. This is what I told myself. I started sending out resume to a college through one of my friends and hope to get something. I prayed to God everyday and for every Sunday mass, I really hope God to show me a way.
On 28th, I had my semester break for 2 weeks. I am kinda of relax as I know life still has to go on. I didn't review much of the issue to many people. On the same day, I and Ivan planned to go to Nilai to get some wedding stuff and materials. You know something, I got a call from Penny from IDP checking with me if I am happy working in Taylors and if I have any friends to recommend to them to take up Student Counselor post in IDP, Subang Jaya.
I think God has heard my prayer and showing me an opportunity now. After a discussion with Ivan and told my issue to Ivan mum, they encourage me to take up the opp. and go for the interview. When I returned call to IDP, the manager Soon Choo called me for an informal interview at Dome, Jusco @Bukit Tinggi, Klang on the Friday. On the spot, I was given the offer from her.
Next in plan, Soon Choo like me to meet up with the Director of IDP Malaysia, Cynthia. On 5 May, I had the interview and again on the spot, I received the letter of offer and I have managed to secure a good offer.
See, this is what I mean by "God is good all the time" and if I let go of the opportunity that God gave this time I am sure "Opportunity doesn't knock my door another time".

Class Observation
Taylors UC mean what they says...
31 Mar & 1 Apr 08, I had the first class observation done in my teaching career. You know why I sounded so surprise by this exercise? Because..back 5++ years in KDU, it was not a practice in my class.
On 31 Mar, Janice (PD) and Theresa (HOD) came into my class at around 11.3oam. While the students only slowly walking in, the observers have already sat at the back of the class. I have no choice to start my lesson with only 80% of the class. The topic is "Operating Systems"... very technical ya! I started off really nervous. Come on!, who like to be observe? No one! unless u gila... hehehe. After awhile, I felt better, I become much natural and behave like in normal classes. I guest I have done a good job though because I earn a "thumb up" from Janice while she walked out from the room. :)
On 1 Apr, Mr. Guna (DPD) came. He came in after 15 minutes I started my class. The moment he came in, I can feel that my whole body getting tense, no choice.. I have to continue which I did. I was in the topic of "Decision Making", managed to convey all I planned to the observer who sitting at the back of the class. He was busy writing, checking the items on the paper, and more writing again... Scary! The session ended after 20 minutes.. Pheew... He left with just a smile.. Suspend right!
See, what an experience. I appreciate all that happened. It keeps me on my toe for my work despite of the stress it posts to me.
Anyway... looking forward for the post observation meeting to know my good and bad! :)

Friends Gathering
The last weekend was a fantasy weekend for me.
29th Feb (Friday night), me finally met Sathya (my ex-boss in KDU) for dinner. I have Leena and Jaya as accompanion too . We decided to go to Kajang for satay as Jaya has always teased both of us for not coming to his "home town" for satay even after knowing him for 2+years. This time, we decided to go and we had him treat us for dinner. :)
We arrived in Kajang late because, we had kinda of stuck in the jam after work. But, the food really worth the time for me to travel there to have the dinner. The satay really tasted very much different from PJ/KL. I actually can't recall when was the last time, I step into Kajang, but however, as Leena described, the journey there is very much like "balik kampung..." this is enough to irritate Jaya.. I guess. :p
The night has passed so comfortably, we had so much of laugh, chat, gossip, and more gossip... :)
These are the part that I really miss on KDU gang of friends because of their friendliness and warm feeling that Taylors' communities might not able to give me. But anyway, I think I just need to learn to deal with it.
We ended the night with a drive to Jaya house which is just not far from the restaurant. We didn't visit the parents as it was slightly too late and it was raining.
However, the night was really an memorable night. Really have to plan such gathering as often as possible :)
On 1 March, guess who I met. I met with Zoe (my collegemate who went and came back from Dubai for holiday) and of course, our organizer Pei Pei for lunch. We went to Klang (one of the famous coffee shop ~ Cheong Ho)...
Oh my god, I really did not meet them for long. You know what! Pei Pei is pregnant and is going to deliver at the end of this month. Too much of updates I received. Zoe's love life and Zoe's lifestyle was full of changes over the year of 2007, but I didn't even know it until she told me. I was kinda of upset about myself of not keeping in touch with them. I think I must change this kind of attitude. >.< I also got to know that Shu Yeing has delivered a baby boy and now in confinement in Kedah. I cannot continue this, I make be more proactive in contacting my friends and get in touch with them more. I hope it is not too late then.
But all and all, I hope I really still have chance.
May God blessed them in their child.. May God bless Zoe to continue her happiness and find her love one soon... :)
Hope to see them again! :)
